Visit to Santa
Following our annual tradition of visiting Santa at Yankee Candle we headed back to a new "Christmas" destination. Colby was very excited about going to visit Christmas and Santa. She was very confident when we asked her if she was going to sit on Santa's lap and tell him what she wanted for Christmas. Even when we got in line at Yankee Candle she was very excited to see Santa...that is until we were next in line. She changed her mind completely and said she didn't want to. I tried to show her the three girls sitting with Santa in front of us, but it was no use. I went up to see Santa with her and she refused to sit on his lap so she stayed on mine and cried right at first, but Santa being the jolly soul that he is talked and talked to her and eventually got her to warm up to him. He even had her promising to bake chocolate chip cookies for him on Christmas Eve! She even whispered to him that she wanted a doll house for Christmas and also liked baby dolls. She started to sit on Santa's lap to give him a hug bye-bye but quickly thought better of it, so Santa kneeled down for a hug which she gave him! She even blew him a kiss at the end! It actually went much better than I anticipated and I am hopeful in the following years she will shed no more tears while visiting Santa! After her visit to Santa we had a blast walking around Yankee Candle! Her favorite part was the singing clock and the train that goes all around the toy store. She kept asking what he was doing up there! She also loved the little villages and picked out a painted glass bird ornament. While Mommy was getting some fudge (yum) Colby found a board to sign! It was hard to pull her away from that but eventually she relented and found some big stuffed animals to pat and sit on! It was a super fun visit and one of Mommy's favorite Christmas traditions!
