Celebration in Lights

According to Colby, we went to Christmas the other night!  She seems to be under the impression that Christmas is a place and that place takes on multiple shapes.  This particular night she thought it was the Celebration in Lights at Newport News Park.  She was very excited to go see the lights and even more excited when she got pulled out of her car seat to ride up front with Mommy and Daddy!  She pointed and squealed right from the start at the "cuckoo" bird (i.e. a peacock).  She started out centered on my lap and at the end of the lights she was practically hanging all the way out the window!  She was quite upset to be put back in her seat at the end of the lights, but we eventually calmed her down with the promise of more lights that she could get out and walk around at.  We took her to a big house in York County that sits high on a hill and their tiered yard is decked out with lights galore!  She thought it was the best thing ever and even Mommy and Daddy are in awe every year - there are just SO many lights for one house!  Colby had a fun time walking around the front of the yard and scoping out all of the cute decorative lights.  The little mice were her favorite and we let her pat them very gently.  She was very good but all upset again when she had to get back in the truck!  Once we got back on our street we let her sit up front and "drive" the rest of the way home which pacified her!  It was a fun visit to "Christmas"!!  I have a feeling this is going to be the best Christmas to date - for all three of us!  In my opinion there is nothing better than seeing the holidays through your child's eyes and joy!!
