Thanksgiving Day 2010

We had a very fun Thanksgiving this year! We spent it at Mimi and Papa’s house with them, Aunt Jennifer, Mickayla, Stevie, and Uncle Billy and Annette from New Hampshire! It was great to be around family and see the kids playing together! I made a few dishes to bring over in the morning while Mike and Colby played outside! Mike was working on a friends car (he always needs a project!) and Colby was swinging in the pitch black garage watching Mater’s Tall Tales (from the movie Cars) on the big projector. (This is her new favorite past-time!) Grammie was out in the garage with Colby supervising until it was time for Colby to come in for a potty break! After that we packed up and headed out to Mimi and Papa’s house! On the ride over, we saw two bald eagles in some trees and had to stop to take a picture. A little after we got there we sat down to a very yummy Thanksgiving dinner! Colby wasn’t too thrilled about sitting at the kids table – even though Mimi was sitting there too! So she sat with Mommy for a little bit until she realized she had a buttered roll on her plate and then she was happy to go sit in her chair so that she could chow down on that! After we ate, we all (except Papa and Aunt Jennifer – the sleepyheads) headed down to the pond for a walk! It was a nice walk since the roads were closed for the holiday so we didn’t have to worry about any cars! Colby had a blast trudging through all of the leaves! Eventually we made it down to the pond and were just about to head a little bit further out when we realized it had started to rain. So, we decided to head back to the house in case it turned into a downpour! Back at the house we all just relaxed for a bit and Colby just played and played and played! I tried to entice her out of the playroom with the offer of going to get some pie but she wouldn’t budge. However, when I went back down to the playroom with my pie she was all about it and eventually stole my fork and gave me a few bites here and there! We headed home at about six o’clock with the plan of going to see the big Celebration in Lights display. However, Colby Brooke fell asleep on the way home so we decided we’d wait for another night when she was awake! As soon as we got home and she woke up the first thing she said was, “I want to see the lights.” Poor little thing! But she soon settled for snuggling with Mommy on the couch to watch Beauty and the Beast before going to bed! And unlike herself, she fell asleep quite easily and at a decent time!! I can only assume that means she had a good holiday!
